Mouth Guards
Appliance Therapy to prevent or correct damage to the teeth or joints. This includes not just mouth guards for sports and other physical activities, but bite guards and night guards.
If you participate in any kind of full-contact sport, the American Dental Association recommends that you wear a mouth guard. Also, many people grind or clench their teeth at night causing wear, cracks, fractures, and sensitivity. We can make and show you how to properly wear a bite-guard. We offer in-office and lab fabricated night-guards.
What are the benefits of wearing a mouth guard?
Wearing a bite guard protects your teeth
from wear, fractures, and breakage caused by grinding or clenching of the teeth. The bite guard also helps prevent (TMJ) a dysfunction of the joint connecting the jaw to the skull. It is very painful and can result in the jaw locking if untreated.
When should I wear my mouth guard?
You should wear your bite guard every night and/or as directed by your dentist.
